Are you constantly rushing to the work in the morning with little time to prepare and eat a healthy breakfast?
Well, there’s a quick and easy solution.
Have you heard of overnight oats?
It’s a life saver!
Overnights oats has increased in popularity in the last couple of years and it is literally one of the best things ever. Convenience? Got it. Simple? Got it. Nutritious? Got it. And there are tons of recipes that you can come up with which is only limited by your creativity and imagination.
All you have to do is to fill up a glass jar or container with oats, toppings (fruits, nuts, seeds) and a liquid like milk or water. Then you leave it in the refrigerator overnight. The next morning, they are soft and ready to be consumed. This works with rolled oats and quick oats. No cooking required! And they are much easier to digest compared to hot oats.
Here’s a simple recipe that I have been using regularly:
- Rolled Oats
- Milk (full cream or low fat, it’s up to your taste bud and dietary needs)
- Protein Power
If you do not take milk, you can consider alternatives such as almond milk, hemp milk, soy milk, rice milk and coconut milk. And if you are not a fan of any kind of milk beverages at all, just stick to water. Add a little stevia if you find it lacking in sweetness, minus the calories.
With this quick and easy recipe, you are getting antioxidants, healthy fats, fiber and protein all in just 15 minutes. It takes under 5 minutes to prepare and about 10 minutes to consume. Can it get any more convenient than that?
So I’m a simple man and don’t really need fancy recipes, but I would love to hear your recipe if you have tried overnight oats. Leave a comment!
