Hi there, my name is Carl and I’m a certified personal trainer, strength and conditioning, and exercise nutrition coach based in Singapore. My mission is to help as many people as possible become leaner, stronger and healthier.

As a kid growing up on the tiny island of Singapore, I have always admired the strongest, fastest and muscular athletes that I see on TV.

I started buying Men’s Health magazine and surfing the internet to find out how to become like them. Other sources that would inspire me come from the fictional world. You talk about superheroes such as The Hulk, Superman, Batman and Wolverine; all because of their incredible strength and physiques.

I wanted to be like them, all powerful and jacked up.

When I was 15 years old, I started to pursue a passion of mine – soccer, more seriously. I was trying to become the ultimate athlete – fast, strong, explosive and muscular, but I just didn’t know how to. Over the next few years, most of my time was spent hitting the gym or training on the field. Without someone to guide me, I was clueless and not getting the results that I seek.

And that was my life growing up from a teenager to a young adult – going around in circles, trying this and trying that, but nowhere near to where I want to be. However, throughout the years I was obsessed with becoming the fittest athlete I could be.

Till today that hasn’t changed.

Although I am nearing 30, I am on the life-long journey of personal growth – both in body and mind. I can’t stress enough the important of being a student for life, staying open-minded, being humble and always be willing to get out of your comfort zone.

I have had several failures and overcome a lot of setbacks in my life. Some of which you may be struggling with right now. I been through that, know how it feels and I can help.

Growing up in school I was skinny fat or fat, weak and slow. They put me in TAF club (Trim and Fit) because I was overweight! I was also very shy, reserved and had no confidence in myself. My friends who grew up with me can attest to that. I will never forget being physically bullied twice and verbally bullied even more.

When it comes to sport, how can I not forget being out-run by a skinny girl during primary school and by smaller guys during secondary school. And how about flunking my ‘O’ level education and having nowhere to go. Or always being the last few guys to be picked during soccer games. You could say my self-esteem took a serious beating for the longest time.

Even though I was nowhere as fit I want to be, I continued hitting the gym and training myself over the years. Once puberty set in, my fitness levels started to improve faster, but I was still far from being a great athlete.

When I was about 21 years old, I took up the sport of Olympic Weightlifting in an attempt to become stronger and more powerful for soccer. Interestingly I became more passionate towards Weightlifting and gave up pursuing soccer soon after. That was when I dived into the world of fitness more seriously than ever and started to take up fitness courses and certifications. Soon enough, I got my first few personal training clients and landed a personal trainer role at a private gym.

After thousands of hours, working with hundreds of clients and gym members, I have discovered what works and what doesn’t. And I am constantly learning and refining my programs to achieve the best results for you in the most efficient way.

I have worked with young and old, student athletes, sportsmen, housewives, dancers, corporate professionals, and fitness enthusiasts of different backgrounds. When they follow my program and do as told, they get results 100% guaranteed – leaner, stronger, more energetic, healthier, happier, you name it.

Besides coaching individuals to help them achieve their fitness goals, I have also given talks to the public to share my knowledge and educate them on keeping a healthy and active lifestyle.

It’s Not Where You Came From, It’s Where You Want To Go

Over the years I realized that it is more than just a physical transformation that I had to make in order to find the success I want.

Despite my past failures and circumstances, I achieved one of my goals – I became the Singapore Weightlifting Open 2010 Over 77Kg Champion. That’s me in the middle.

The funny thing was that I had never seen myself as a champion and I never thought that I had what it takes to become one. I thought that champions were born, not made. But now, I’m telling you that with hard work and perseverance, you can achieve anything you dream of.

I was neither born talented nor gifted physically and academically. But one thing I knew was to work hard and learn from good mentors. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. If I can do it anyone can.

I cut out the negative people and circumstances in my life. I started to pour myself into personal development, read more books than I have ever done and learned from the right mentors. That made a huge shift in the way I think and it changed my life. And so can you.

It doesn’t matter how negative your current circumstances are, what matters is where you want to go and what are you willing to do to get there.

Ever since I started out in the fitness industry, I have always sought out the best to learn from so that I can become my best and be able to help others get the best possible results.

I am very honored to have been learning from and working with the world’s leading physical preparation coach, Ian King, for the past 4 years and on going. His works and philosophies have shaped the training world and made a big impact on how I train and coach my clients. He is truly a gem in the fitness industry and I am humbled to have him as a mentor.

Part of my life’s mission is to help others become better and more successful. That is why I invite Ian to Singapore to help raise the knowledge of fellow fitness coaches, to help them become better and be able to help their clients get better results. I truly wish to see everyone fulfill their potential. Life is too short not to!

The great news is that you don’t have to take years or anywhere as long as I did. Because you can learn from my experiences and avoid my mistakes.

There is no reason why you can’t become lean and strong, sexy and confident, healthy and happy. There is no reason you can’t get into a relationship with the girl/guy you like.

I know what is it like to be a failure, to have no one support you, to not believe in yourself, to want to give up in life, I have been there. You can change and I will guide and support you every step of the way.
